Don't blame Iceland!

  • Oct. 24th, 2008 at 11:08 AM

Look, everyone in the world is worried about their national economies. Banks are being taken over by the government and millions of people are wondering where their money is going. But it seems that of all the countries in the world, the Republic of Iceland (a country for which I have a great deal of affection) is being singled out as if they were responsible for your bank account being wiped out. BBC News, one of the most respected news organizations in the world, is all but declaring a fatwa on Bjork! Yes, Iceland is suffering. We all are, from the USA to Great Britain to Australia to South Korea and all points in between. Today, the International Monetary Fund gave Iceland a tentative amount of US$2.1 billion.

Iceland is one of the most unique nations in the world. Its language has remained virtually unchanged for a millennium. Its population is among the most well-read in the world. Its parliament has been around for a millennium. The Icelandic people are smart, hardworking, and beautiful. It has produced three Miss World winners, multiple world champions in strongman competition, and the most unique recording artist of all time, Bjork. Iceland does not deserve the bullshit that it has been getting from other countries, namely Great Britain (many British people are angry because they put their money in Icelandic banks and now they'll never see a pence of that money again.

As I said, everyone is suffering because of the global money crisis. But it's not like the Icelandic people should be blamed for starting it. So, please, lay off Iceland, okay? Don't blame Iceland. Blame the bastards who mismanaged your money.

Oh, and to Prime Minister Gordon Brown? Icelanders are NOT terrorists. http://indefence.is/Home
